There is a thyagaraaja song , titled

makelara vicharamu...maru kanna sri ramachandra .....
and MARU being interpreted as Father of Cupid..

Here the emotion with respect to the first line, is being lost in Maru..
i think it is a typo ...and it should be MAMU, meaning , oh my father... because this phrase mamu kanna tandri/talli is popular usage in telugu language...
just think it over....
